Inspirational / Creative Opening Sequences

Star Wars Episode IV
It slowly has writing going up the page describing and setting the scene in the universe and it tells you what is happening. It makes people get involved and engrossed in the movie from an early stage and allows the viewer to get a good idea of what is happening. When the writing is going up the screen there is an orchestra playing in the background and behind the writing is stars, which suggests that it will be a science fiction movie. After the writing it shows a space ship going through space and it starts to get attacked by smaller space ships. This confirms the idea that it will be a science fiction film. This movie was actually created in the 1970’s, so it shows what some of the ideas were like at the time and because the movie was so successful it has grown a cult following and has evolved into one of the most recognizable movie franchises in history and because it is so successful a lot of people and shows have parodied it.

Spider Man 3
It slowly skips to different parts of a spider’s web while giving a short review of the past 2 films by showing short clips in between the webs. They also have credits on different parts of the screen. It helps the viewer to remember what happened in the 2 prequels. It also gives the viewer a sense of eeriness by seeing a giant spiders web on the screen. This is good because it allows the audience to get a feel of what the movie will be about and it will help to get the audience pumped up towards the movie. However people tend to forget what the opening is like because the movie was so bad, from a critical stand point and it was such a let down after how successful Spider Man 2 was.

Zombieland
It opens with a zoomed in view of an American flag with the main character narrating saying that it no longer the United States of America and is now the United States of Zombieland. It then goes on to say that he is only alive because he has certain rules to make sure he survives. He then describes 4 of the rules and whenever he is explaining and describing the rules there a clips playing along with it showing what it will be like without the rules. It then skips to a montage of zombies attacking people and the zombies and their victims are reacting with the credits by hitting them when running or falling. It also has ‘Whom The Bell Tolls’ by Metallica. This is good because it gives you a brief introduction of what has been happening in the world and what the main character is like. It is also good because when the music starts it starts to get the audience ‘pumped up’ and exited.  Also the music actually relates with the dark and heavy tones of which the movie contains, because it is a zombie horror film.
