Film Evaluation: Taken

The first scene is a medium shot of one of the characters talking to her father on the phone telling him that she is fine but that her cousins weren’t with her and are in Spain as the scene continues it starts to build suspense. They use a medium shot so that we can see the expressions on her face but can still see her movement between the different rooms. Also they use a medium shot so that they can also show the surroundings while they still tell the story.

The girl is looking out of a bathroom window into the room she was just in and there are men grabbing her friend, this gives the audience anxiety.

This tells the audience that the father knows what will eventually happen.

Description: Macintosh HD:Users:13140362:Desktop:Screen shot 2013-09-17 at 09.21.46.pngThe next scene the men walk into the room and because the girl is under the bed she can only see the men’s feet and to add more mystery and suspense it switches between a point of view shot out of the girls eyes and a close up of the girls face. Once the girl thinks that the men have left the room she tells her did that they are gone then she is dragged out from under the bed and screams down the phone.  In this scene they use a point of view shot to show what the girl can see and how the men are moving and they use a close up shot of the girl so that they can show the emotions and expressions and how she reacts to the men’s movements.
